Peacock Wreath

It is finally finished! And I love it! Although it took me longer than expected, the outcome was just what I wanted. I bought the tulle by the yard, but I learned a lesson that it's HARD to cut tulle without a rotary cutter. The next wreath will be made with rolled tulle instead :)

The accent was the thing holding me up. I bought feathers online, not paying attention. They were too short! My intentions were to fill up the whole side portion of the wreath and it took me awhile to find (reasonably priced) feathers that matched my colors and had the length I needed. I finally found them and added a .99 cent Walmart flower to finish it off. I enjoyed making this so much, I'd be happy to make one for you too! $20, choose 3-5 colors and any theme you want for your accent. If you can't pick up locally, you'll need to pay shipping as well. Just contact me with your orders (I promise yours will get done sooner than mine, since I have incentive LOL).

The black one just doesn't show up well in pictures, but I assure you the shabby chic flower is amazing!

I love the way the purple one turned out! And this is probably my best bow yet. I found the secret is not to sew it, but to use a clear rubber band instead. It allowed me to adjust the loop sizes until they were perfect! It' so nice to be doing something I enjoy and getting paid for it!

I will be doing tile coasters for my next project (I think!!). What an awesome gift those will be :)

Headbands

Summer flies by when you're having fun. Or rather not having fun but busy. After starting my peacock wreath, my daughter was admitted to the hospital for about a week and it just really put a wrench in things. We are hoping she's all better now though!!

So here is my peacock wreath with no embellishment.... I'll update when I finish (soon!)

I did make a few headbands for a friend though using a bow technique from pinterest. It was so easy to make these fancy bows, I don't know why I never tried before. You simply layer the ribbon on top of one another in a row and then sew in 1/4" increments all the way up the rows. Then you pull the thread tight and wind it around the bow and voila! I am looking forward to making more soon :)

First Post!

This is an exciting time for me, as it marks "getting back to normal". This is something I've been wanting to do for awhile now, and it's finally come to be! The first entry to my craft blog. Of course, most of my ideas will be things I've marked on pinterest, but I'll also post projects from other places (including my own head!)

The first project I chose to do was the 52 Reasons card deck from pinterest. It was super easy to do, and I did it while sitting in the hospital with my daughter. I made it for my husband for his 28th birthday!

This project was quick, cheap, and super cute!! I spend $2 on a key chain and $2 on a pack of cards. The only other things you need are a hold punch and a Sharpie! Use all 52 cards and one joker to make 53 cards. Punch a hole in one card and use it as a guide to punch all the other holes in the same spot. I chose to put all my cards on the ring first before writing on them. Once on the ring, I made the cover and then got to work recording my 52 reasons :)

Some variations of this are punching two holes and using ribbon as a binder, gluing white rectangles of paper on each card to write on, and personalizing cards with pictures. It's such a great gift for someone who wants something meaningful but limited funds!
